Valerio in 2001 began working as a trainee lawyer for a Genoa firm which in   2006 became a partner of BB & Partners, an association that also included Batini Traverso & Associati.

Since his first activities for BB & Partners he has further specialized in maritime law relating to the seizure of ships, liens and privileges, cargo complaints, preventive technical assessments in maritime matters, litigation and non-litigation cases, concerning contractual disputes on rental contracts. and bills of lading, maritime insurance, cargo damage such as shortages and various types of damage, thus also developing a technical and practical competence and experience in the field through continuous and assiduous cooperation and comparison with maritime experts, this with the specific purpose to guarantee better protection to customers through technical knowledge to be combined with the legal and essential knowledge in cases involving different product types. He has also handled cases relating to commercial and corporate law, especially for the litigation before Italian courts and also with reference to international trade and business.

He has acted since the beginning of his career by managing the litigation (hearings and drafting of defensive documents, management of the dispute, examination of witnesses and activities related to the evidential phase) therefore defending clients before the courts and thus developing a mastery of the code of civil procedure in order to counteract the opposing defences as effectively as possible.

In civil law, he acquired also specific knowledge and experience in the field of professional liability, participating in a master’s degree on the subject in 2007.

He has written several opinions and reports relating to national and international law for the main P&I Clubs (with publication of these reports on the respective Clubs’ websites) as well as for foreign clients in the UK, Japan, China and the Russian federation. He has also participated in various meetings and refresher courses held by the same Clubs, international law firms and insurance companies in various parts of the world.

After cooperating with important Italian law firms, he became a partner of the Batini Traverso e Associati firm in 2010.

He has developed a professional interest in the subject of IT law (cyber law) on the subject of Privacy (with conferences held within public bodies) and in relation to insurance policies for the main related problems.

He carries out his profession as head of the Ravenna office but is also active in other offices.
