BTG represents clients in litigation before ordinary courts and arbitration proceedings, and provides assistance in pre litigation negotiation often preventing court disputes and facilitating mediation and conciliation processes.

Using their bespoke knowledge and advocacy skills, our litigators work to resolve the dispute, while always striving to control costs and to find the solution which best suits the client’s needs.  We have the resources to handle large actions, and the experience and expertise to handle smaller cases efficiently.  Matters are always evaluated at the onset to determine if litigation can be avoided, or, if it is instituted, whether the issue can be resolved promptly.  We strive to keep our clients fully apprised of the proceedings and work closely with them in all strategic decisions.

The Firm avails of a large team of dedicated litigators, who have developed proven experience of multidisciplinary work, in coordination with criminal law counsels, foreign lawyers, experts and consultants.

At BTG, the primary focus of our Italian litigation practice is client service. We aim to respond swiftly and effectively to client needs, update them on a regular basis and provide thoughtful and straightforward recommendations as matters move forward. Our litigators, whose background and experience are as varied as the clients we serve, possess robust negotiating skills and, when appropriate, will seek for alternative solutions to court litigation, such as arbitration and mediation.

Our Professionals have a consolidated expertise in all the major areas of insurance litigation, shipping claims, product liability, commercial litigation.

The Firm assists in applications to obtain exequatur of foreign judgments or arbitration awards, service of same and enforcement in Italy by attachment of bank accounts, mobile goods, real estate or credits of the defendant debtor. The Firm cooperates with leading private investigators for assets appraisal activity, identification of funds and attachments.

BTG has significant expertise in cross border litigation and offers its services to both foreign clients in Italian litigation and Italian and foreign clients in litigation abroad involving aspects of Italian law.

Our Professionals are regularly involved, as counsel and also as arbitrators, in domestic and international arbitrations, both ad hoc and conducted under the auspices of the most accredited domestic and international institutions.

Other related actions included proceedings for recognition of foreign arbitral decisions and enforcing their awards.

BTG has a large practice in dispute resolution, with partners and associates practising almost full-time in this field.

Arbitral institutions involved include the International Chamber of Commerce (“ICC”), the International Commercial Arbitration Court (“ICAC”) at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (“CIETAC”), the Court of Arbitration of Foreign Trade at the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba, the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, the European Court of Arbitration, the Milan Chamber of National and International Arbitration, the Italian Arbitration Association and the Italian Chamber of Arbitration of Public Works.

The Firm has been in charge of both domestic and complex multi-jurisdictional international disputes and provides strategic advice on appropriate dispute resolution methods, choice of law, choice of forum and arbitration clauses. The emphasis is on problem solving, avoiding court intervention where possible by seeking early resolution of disputes through negotiation and mediation.

Members of the Firm are active as Attorneys and, some of them, accredited as professional mediators in domestic and international mediation proceedings with the Milan Chamber of National and International Arbitration, the Italy-China Business Mediation Centre (Milan and Beijing) and the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) of London.
