The Global Insurance Law Connect network
As clients have increasingly extended their business beyond their own borders, lawyers need to have access to counterparts around the globe in order to win work and fully service them. For large law firms this has meant a period of rapid international expansion. Many independent firms, meanwhile, have signed up to one of the many legal referral networks in a bid to compete for cross border mandates.
We are among the founding members of The Global Insurance Law Connect network (GILC). This is the result of a pool of independent law firms, among the major insurance specialist worldwide, which includes United Kingdom, United States, France and a pipeline of other European, South America and Far East insurance firms. Founder member firms are Batini Traverso Grasso & Associati, BLM, Byrd & Associates and Foran Glennon Palandech Ponzi & Rudloff. The network is headquartered in London and embraces a number of key insurance jurisdictions around the globe.
What some of the major International Underwriters said about our Network’s idea and objectives?
“Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you could mirror our pan-European Insurance Operation?”
“Stronger international capability from you as our legal advisers would better serve our needs”
“We are very global so our legal advisers should also be….it depends how ambitious you want to be”
Recognising the wide range of issues that re/insurers face today, Global Insurance Law Connect has established special interest groups that will work throughout the network to share knowledge with our clients and customers. That is why, the Network developed fourteen Special Interest Groups (SIGs), including Financial Lines (PI & D&O), Product Liability, Medical Malpractice and Healthcare, Cyber, Construction and Environment, General Liability and Marine (Hull & Machinery, Cargo and P&I).
GIL organizes periodical events, workshops and seminars round the globe in the different areas of specialization and in conjunction with the local insurance industry and major brokers and often serves large international insurance programs for major international corporate accounts.
